My husband's favorite store is REI.
It's practically the only place he'll shop. Of course, he's pursuing a career in Horticulture so it's more of an excuse to stock up on more hiking equipment (or as he calls it 'work clothes'). We recently visited our local REI store in preparation for our hiking trip.
There is nothing I love more than finding out just how great the companies we support are in their commitment to saving the planet. I've been thinking about how Patagonia has documented their footprint for their clothes in a very open and transparent way (on a Green Marketing scale, this is a 10!). They tell you where your clothes came from, how good or bad they are, and what they are doing to improve their material selections. What a great company! I need to buy more Patagonia clothes!
Well we received REI's catalog today, and sure enough, the cargo shorts he's been eyeing are made from recycled soda bottles. WOOT! I also love the EcoSensitive labels REI uses to tell you about the sustainable features of their clothes.
Buying post-consumer recycled stuff just makes me warm and fuzzy inside. Sooo satisfying that we've saved something from the landfill...

Welcome!
I'm a newbie here, so be nice! Of course, you should always be nice...or as my grandmomma used to say, "Don't be ugly!"
I started this blog with the intention of documenting my adventures in becoming more environmentally conscious, and starting my own business as a marketing consultant in the real estate and sustainability industries. (Shameless plug: visit me at springleafstrategies.com)
Oh, so this is one of those work blogs?
Well not really. But I won't be shy in telling you about my fantastic clients, fun work, and adventures in running my own business. This is a personal story I'm weaving. Unfortunately, there is no pattern to follow so you might end up with a three armed shirt with no hole for your head. But what the heck. That's what adventures are about!
I'm also working to make my personal life more environmentally friendly. Eating local, walking whenever possible, buying post-consumer recycled stuff, convincing my environmentally-challenged friends and family that I haven't gone crazy...you know, the usual.
Don't worry, I'm not perfect (far from it!). But I'm guessing you aren't either. We're much better if we work together - I hope you join me, give me some tips from time to time, and walk with me in my journey. I love to hear other people's discoveries and cheer in their successes. I've met a lot of FANTASTIC people along the way, and it's only just beginning!
